Month 7 February 2018
We're getting towards the business end of the season and the Top 4 continue to set the pace. Barney Le Fevre still leads but has been reigned in a little bit more. Barney leads with 1791 points, Neil Burke is now 2nd with on 1722 points, then a bit of a gap has opened up to Paul Wheatcroft in 3rd on 1674 points and Craig Burkert with 1643 points.
Another below par month saw me almost skillfully pick the wrong captain each week and generally tread water. I also crashed out of the Kick Off Cup at the last 16 stage, finishing in 13th place, 18 points from qualification.
MOTM for February was my friend and colleague Steve Lamb. Steve had a slim lead going into the final week and an even slimmer lead going into the last match between Arsenal and Man City. By this stage 'The Beast from the East' was in full flow and there was a chance the game might be postponed. This could've cost Steve as he had a -4pt penalty for transfers pending. I wondered why he brought a shovel to work! As it turned out everying worked out perfectly for Steve and he won with 233 points. In 2nd place only 7 points behind was Mark Lanning and the unlucky person this month, missing out by only 3 points was Dickon Payne.
Rollover '100' - Slight change this season. The first person to score exactly 100 points will win £25, the last person will win £100 (could win both if the only person). If no one scores exactly 100 points it will go to the closest person (first person to be closest). In Week 20 Ben Wareing scored the magical 100 points to claim the £25. He now has to sit tight and hope no one else scores 100 points to pick up the remaining £100.
The Kick Off Cup saw Round 2 in February with the Top 8 of the 16 players who qualified in January, qualifying for Quarter Finals. Dave Groves claimed 8th spot by just 1 point from the unlucky Shiv Amin.
Highest Weekly Score Leader - The highest weekly score so far is still Nathan Sims scoring a massive 119 points in Week 19. Mind you Ben Gale did get close in week 27 with 116 points.
