Month 9 June 2020
Football finally returned (with no crowds) and Liverpool were duly crowned Champions, before being roundly thrashed by Man City.
The leader before lockdown was Joe Stone, but after Week 32 he is now Joe 'dropped like a' Stone, not even in the Top 10 but there are 6 game weeks in July, so not out of it. In fact it is tighter at the top than Daniel Levy's wallet! Incredibly only 9 points separates the Top 4 players. Mike Barnard has regained top spot with 1894 points, closely followed by Dave Groves on 1890, Darryl Bate on 1889 and Andy Barnett on 1885 points. Matt Saxby and Ally Townend make up the Top 6, still well in contention.
MOTM for March was Dave Groves with 83 points, in what was only a one week MOTM before lockdown. Mark Jardine took 2nd place.
MOTM for June was Andy Salmons with 273 points, just fending off Andy Barnett with 268 points. Andy had 3 very good weeks in June, playing his bench boost to good effect, having Anthony Martial in his team and scoring a hat trick and Bruno Fernandes scoring well to see him over the line. I'm sure Andy 'Blue Moon' Salmons accepted those points through gritted teeth! A.C. Kills (Adam) just missed out on some prize money.
The first night back after lockdown was a dream! I utilised the unlimited transfers and packed my team with Sheff Utd, Villa, Man City and Arsenal players (extra game). Sheff Utd 0 v 0 Villa, perfect! De Bruyne triple captain (42 points), after night one I was 32nd in the World (out of 7.5m players) for that Game Week. Then as usual the wheels came off! Those 11 players managed 94 points in Week 30 part 1 but only 27 points in part 2! The following week I thought I had a good team but got nearly the lowest score in the league and Week 32, forgot to check my team and again rubbish.
Rollover '100' - The first person to score exactly 100 points will win £20, the last person will win £100 (could win both if the only person). It was all going on in Week 30, and amongst all the mayhem David George emerged with the magical 100 points! David will win £20 for that and another £100 unless someone can repeat the feat in the remaining 6 weeks.
The Kick Off Cup was supposed to be Quarter Finals in March but that was abandoned due to Coronavirus. So June became the Semi Final with the Top 4 qualifying for the Final in July. The finalists are Andy Barnett, Luke Hughes, Serif Girgin and Marvin Simmonds.
Highest Weekly Score Leader - The Highest Weekly score went in Week 30 to Andy Barnett with 126 points. Andy played his Bench Boost and got 32 points. When I played my Bench Boost I scored 1 point! I actually got the second highest score of 121 points in Week 30, making my pitiful performance in the second half of that week even more disappointing.
The TJG League is also led by Mike Barnard with 1894 points followed by Darryl Bate with 1889 points and Andy Barnett with 1885 points. So all to play for with £70 to the winner.
